Christmas is always around the corner. Even if the seasons are a full 11 months away, you can get a head start by considering your Christmas interior decor all year. We will take a look at some of the greatest projects that can add your own personal touch of seasons cheer when December rolls around.
Candles and Candle Holders
Nothing shows the magic of Christmas like festive candles and this is hardly going to take any effort. Buy yourself a stash of candles in all shapes and sizes and begin looking for ways to make them a bit more festive.
This can be as simple as a red ribbon tied around the base of the candle, but no reason to stop there. Pine twigs, pine cones and pine logs are also very festive supplements for your candle. Think of boughs of holly, even if they are only made of crepe paper.
Adopt a Christmas Tree
Here is a beautiful way to avoid convention and still stay in close contact with a special tradition. Adopting a tree means you will always have the perfect indoor decor essential and never have to spend a penny.
Live trees smell great and can add beauty to your exteriors even when it is not Christmas. Balsam firs and Douglas firs are the most popular options and survive well in all climates.
Use Wooden Boxes, Wooden Baubles and Wooden Everything
There is nothing like the rustic look and sense of wood to emphasize the Christmas spirit. Look for attractive logs, driftwood and even discarded (unsoiled) wooden crates and boxes. Take these charming baubles to the next level with a splash of glitter to frost the surface and then maybe a touch of red or blue ribbon. You can even hang them on the tree if you touch them up just right.
Festive Bowls and Baskets
Fill a glass or wire fruit bowl or basket with baubles crafted from paper, pinecones or attractive twigs and acorns. This looks cute in itself, but don’t stop there. Thrown in a string of lights for an eye-catching piece of Christmas interior décor that sets the tone for your living room, dining room or hallways.
Reinterpret the Christmas Tree
There are a thousand ways the Christmas tree itself can be reinterpreted to express your personal style. Essentially, it is just a triangle, so you can stack baubles, glue pine cones together or lash a few attractive sticks and logs together.
One brilliant idea is to spray paint an attractive branch white or silver. The finishing touch is when you add the baubles and lights with all the pomp and splendor you would give a real tree.
Christmas Lights
While the tree is important and the regulation nutcracker is nice, if you can only invest in a single element of Christmas interior decor, let it be lights. String them up around the windows, hide them behind the books on your bookshelf and droop them over mirrors.
Christmas is more about the lights than anything else. On this note, add those candles everywhere you can and light them up when you will be in the area – best still make sure at least some candles are scented.
